Bobby Clennell - Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York, class schedule

Bobby Clennell is arguably the Queen of New York Restorative. Her 1 ¾ hour class of rejuvenating and supported poses are meant to restore the nervous system and dismantle chronic tension. The author of The Women’s Yoga Book: Asana and Pranayama for All Phases of the Menstrual Cycle, Clennell teaches a myriad of variations for poses like Supta Virasana laying on bolsters, blankets or blocks, Uttanasana with the head resting on a block, chair or bolster, Sarvangasana on a chair and Ardha Halasana utitlizing a special bench or chair. Be prepared to use ropes, wrapped telephone books, sandbags and more to get the most significant benefits out of each asana. At the end of class you’ll be taught pranayama and if you wish, you can wrap your eyes with a cloth bandage making your class experience particularly quieting. $25 includes all props.

[Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors]
Description: Breast cancer surgery usually results in decreased mobility, numbness in the arm, shoulder and chest, and can be accompanied by an overall loss of balance. This need not be permanent. This class is tailored to the physical, psychological and emotional needs of breast cancer survivors including those undergoing chemotherapy.

This class is free.

   
  Friday | 2:15 - 3:45 pm
[Level II]

Description: For students who are well practiced in Level I postures, including Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand). Basic postures are refined and Sirsasana (headstand), full arm balance, backbends, and Pranayama are introduced.

[Restorative]

Description: Rejuvenating and supported poses that restore the nervous system and dismantle chronic tension. At least six weeks experience required.
 
Sunday | 12:15 - 1:45 pm
[Prenatal]
Description: Emphasis on postures that maintain physical and mental well being during pregnancy as well as preparing the prenatal student for delivery.
